Newcastle Psychological Services runs a stress control course for people who are feeling stressed and want to learn practical ways of managing that stress.
The course is run much like an evening class where the chairs face the front and the people running the class teach you all about stress.
It is not group therapy. That means we will not sit in a circle and you will not be expected to discuss your personal problems. No-one will expect you to talk during the class, although you are welcome to ask questions.
You are also welcome to bring a friend or family member to the class.
What will I learn on the course?
The course teaches you about:
- What stress is
- Why we have it
- What we can do about it
- Panic attacks, low mood, anxiety
Who will be running the class?
A clinical psychologist leads the classes. They are usually helped by a primary care mental health worker and an assistant psychologist.
