Feelings of worth and value play an important role in an individual’s perception of self esteem and confidence. Other things such as personal values, self belief and an ability to cope with basic problems can contribute to feelings of self esteem and confidence.
Currently we run a group course to raise self esteem for women. This group offers members the opportunity to explore what self esteem and confidence means to them as well as looking at accepted definitions, such as:
- What self esteem and confidence means
- How self esteem develops and how it is maintained
- Learning about how negative thinking can affect how we feel
- Challenging unhelpful thinking styles and how they can impact on self esteem and confidence
- Learning how you can become more assertive
For each course the classes are run on a weekly basis in the City Library, meeting room 4 . This is a nice modern venue located in the city centre. The classes for 2012 areas follows:
Wednesday 18/01/12 – 22/02/12 10-12pm
Tuesday 20/03/12 – 24/04/12 10-12pm
Tuesday 22/05/12- 26/06/12 10-12pm
Tuesday 04/09/12- 09/10/12 10-12pm
Tuesday 06/11/12- 11/12/12 10-12pm
Information is provided throughout the group, members are encouraged to reflect on the work done in sessions and invited to engage in homework tasks. On completion of the course we encourage members to continue to promote their self-esteem and confidence using skills and knowledge gained during the course.
