The anger management course focuses on helping people learn useful ways to control their anger. This involves understanding what makes them angry and learning how to recognise it earlier.

What happens on the course?
There are two types of course. One is a brief, single session class which aims to introduce you to anger management and offers emergency control techniques. This lasts approx. two and a half hours and is run monthly.
Alongside this sessions you will also have the opportunity to attend a more in-depth course for managing anger. This course runs for six weeks, with each class lasting two hours.
There may be up to 20 other people attending the class. They are taught by two health workers and are like an evening class. You will not be expected to talk about yourself in front of others. The course is not a therapy group, it is about providing you with the information you need to help manage anger better.
During the course you will be given information about managing anger and stress. We offer techniques and strategies that have been proven by research to help manage anger more effectively. You will be given handouts to take away and questionnaires to fill in at each class. You will be asked to do some short written exercises to think about how anger affects you, but this is for you – no one else needs to see it.
